History of the OFC - World Cup 2022

The OFC - World Cup qualifiers will take place in November of 2021. The competition will include an initial qualifying stage between the two lowest-ranked participating nations. The winners of this round will proceed to the group stage, where eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four. Each team will play each opponent only once. The winner and runner-up of each group will then advance to a single-leg knockout stage. Only the winner and runner-up from each group will move on to the final.

The qualification matches began in September 2007 in Samoa, where the Pacific Games were held. Originally scheduled to take place during the FIFA World Cup qualifying window, the OFC tournament acted as a substitute for the games. It was a knockout competition and was played on the dates of FIFA matches. The tournament itself was also a precursor to the Asian Football Confederation's inaugural competition. A group stage playoff between Iran and Australia is also underway for the World Championship.

The OFC World Cup qualifying tournament began in 2007. The 2007 Pacific Games in Samoa doubled as the qualification tournament for the tournament. The OFC's tournament was held during the same dates as FIFA matches, thus acting as the OFC Nations Cup. The qualifying round will consist of eleven teams, including host nations, plus the four finalists. A qualifying match will decide which team will play in the final. At the end of the qualifiers, the top eight teams will qualify for the World Championship.

The OFC - World Cup qualifiers will compete in the intercontinental playoffs. The first round of qualification will feature four teams from each region. A win for one team in the first round will secure a spot in the final. Once these teams advance to the next stage, they will face the two teams in the second round. The winner of this stage will then move on to the final round. The history of the OFC - World Cup starts on March 20, and is likely to end in January of 2022.

The OFC World Cup is the first OFC tournament in history. Twenty-one teams from the OFC and the AFC are invited to participate. As of October 2017, all 21 of the countries in the OFC were represented. The competition will be played in two continents based on FIFA rankings. The AFC will compete in Asia, while the OFC will play in the continental zone. The Australian team will play in the Pacific Zone.

The OFC has qualified for the OFC World Cup 2022 since 2008. The first qualifying tournament was held in Samoa in 2007. Then, the OFC World Cup qualifiers began in August, and were held on the same dates as the FIFA qualifying tournament. The first OFC world cup was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but after the pandemic passed, the tournament was held in January 2022.
