Does Pakistan Qualify For FIFA World Cup 2022?

The future of Pakistan in football is tainted by political unrest, but the country is still committed to staging the world's biggest event. On Tuesday, the nation lost its first competitive match to Cambodia, a team with a better record than Pakistan. It also failed to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup or the Saff Women's Championship. The decision has been made by the rival faction, and opponents are now claiming that they are working with the Hayat faction to stop the country from participating in any international event like world cup qualifiers Asia.

While Pakistan's national team players have been playing in the Pakistan Premier League, they have not represented the country in international competitions. The nation's players have not been in the spotlight in the UEFA leagues. Since 2015, the Pakistan Football Federation has never really put World Cup qualifiers in its top priority. Meanwhile, the National Football League (NPL) has been dissolved and re-established, while a new government was elected.

After years of political turmoil in the country, the football scene is finally showing signs of a recovery. The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has a newly-found president, Faisal Saleh Hayat, who has been in charge of the team for 15 years. The NFFP has not had the same problem in the past, but the country's governing body, Fifa, has. Currently, Pakistan has two World Cup qualifiers scheduled, against Cambodia on June 6 and 11, in home-and-away basis.

In addition to playing in the PFL, the players have not been playing in any other leagues. The PFA has never prioritized World Cup qualifiers. They were suspended in 2015 and 2016 due to political turmoil and controversy regarding Hayat's election. The Pakistan Football Federation has also failed to make a decision regarding the number of teams to be played in 2022. That means they can't play in the finals of the FIFA World Cup.

While Pakistan has always been a contender in football, it has only recently been beaten by other countries in the region. Despite its recent wins, the nation has not played a World Cup qualifying game. As a result, the team has failed to qualify for the tournament. However, this has not stopped them from advancing to the AFC tournaments. Fortunately, the aforementioned competitions have made Pakistan one of the most respected nations in soccer.

In the coming years, the country's football team will need to compete in the AFC and SAFF tournaments. In addition to those, the national team will have to win the Asia Cup. But it will be a long way before Pakistan reaches the World Cup. After all, their last appearance in the SAFF Championship was in 1997. In 2017, they failed to qualify for the knockout rounds in their Asian qualifying. And the only team without a win is Bangladesh.
